Terms of Service
Plain-spoken terms covering the Soniq pre-launch preview site, early-access waitlist, and our upcoming Windows desktop companion.
Soniq visualizes and controls media already playing on your Windows PC; it does not host or stream music files.
Soniq's 68 widget finishes and 24×24 pixel companion sprites are protected original works.
Features shown on the teaser site represent v1.0 in active development and may evolve before launch day.
1. Overview & Acceptance
By accessing the Soniq website, joining the launch waitlist, or downloading the Soniq desktop application for Windows 10 and 11 ("Soniq"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the website or software.
2. Pre-Launch Preview & Waitlist
Soniq is currently in pre-release development. Joining the waitlist reserves your notification for the public release of Soniq v1.0 and, where invited, early beta builds:
- Submitting an email address on the waitlist is free and does not obligate you to purchase or install anything when v1.0 launches.
- Interactive elements on the teaser website (including the simulated widget, finish switcher, word-synced lyrics demo, and pixel black cat companion) are provided as a preview of the desktop experience. Visual details, finish counts, and companion rosters may be refined prior to general release.
3. Software License & Intellectual Property
Upon release, Soniq grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and run the Soniq desktop application on Windows devices that you own or control.
- Soniq Assets: The Soniq name, logo, user interface layouts, 68 custom widget finishes, and all 24×24 pixel companion sprites, palettes, and animation sequences are owned by Soniq and protected by copyright and trademark laws.
- Stream & Desktop Sharing: You are expressly permitted to display Soniq and its pixel companions in your personal livestreams, video recordings, and desktop screenshots, including via Soniq's stream overlay mode.
- Restrictions: You may not redistribute, sell, decompile, extract the sprite catalogs or widget finishes for competing products, or remove proprietary notices from the software or website.
4. Third-Party Media Players & Album Artwork
Soniq is an interface companion that reads media session state from your operating system (such as Windows System Media Transport Controls) and compatible players like Spotify, Apple Music, or web browsers.
- Soniq is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify AB, Apple Inc., Discord Inc., or Microsoft Corporation.
- All song titles, artist names, lyric excerpts, and album cover artwork displayed in previews or inside your desktop widget remain the sole property of their respective artists, labels, and rightsholders.
- Soniq does not provide, host, download, or circumvent DRM for any audio or music streams. You are responsible for complying with the terms of the media player services you use alongside Soniq.
5. Acceptable Use
When using the Soniq website or software, you agree not to:
- Submit someone else's email address to the waitlist without their consent, or use automated scripts to flood forms or endpoints.
- Attempt to probe, scrape, or disrupt the availability of the website, update servers, or synced-lyrics endpoints.
- Distribute modified, repackaged, or tampered installers claiming to be official Soniq builds.
6. Warranty Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability
The Soniq website, pre-release previews, and software are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Soniq and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the website or desktop software.
7. Changes & Contact
We may update these Terms of Service as Soniq moves from pre-launch into v1.0 release. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Questions about these terms can be sent to legal@soniq.app.
